This Week In New Girl's Pull Box

New Girl's Pull Box for June 27th

Marvel:

Wolverine & the X-men

So far, I have been beyond unimpressed by Wolverine & the X-Men, but I like to keep up with current events, so I don't see myself dropping this one anytime soon. It has yet to wow me, but a girl can always hope.

DC:

I, Vampire

The complete opposite of Wolverine & the X-Men, I, Vampire has been one of my favorite comics lately, and it came completely out of the blue. I saw some picture of Mary and thought she looked cool, so I read the comic, and it was awesome! I recommend it to all of my friends who are even slightly interested in comics. The storyline has been so good lately, I can't wait to see what happens next!

Justice League Dark

I picked up JLD after the crossover with I, Vampire, but the most recent issue was kind of disappointing. Not sure I like the new team that much, although Constantine has always been my favorite member and I'm glad he's sticking around, for now at least. The current arc isn't interesting me that much, but Constantine will keep me coming back.

The New Deadwardians

Not really sure where this one is going, but the dry British humor is entertaining enough that I'm willing to waste some time finding out. I'm not a huge fan of the art, and the story can get a bit confusing sometimes, but since it's a limited, I'll definitely read it to the finish.

Other:

Resident Alien

I know that this is a mini-series, but I really hope it spawns an ongoing. It is sooooo good! The alien doctor thing is really hilariously weird and I've loved every page so far. I love how he's such a huge pushover, which I probably shouldn't love, but it's kind of insanely funny.

Fanboys vs. Zombies

I'm so sad that this one is almost over!! I love it so much, and I really hope that there's a sequel. Maybe they could do something similar to what Marvel does with Carnage (regular miniseries, for those of you who aren't familiar with everyone's favorite symbiote). I'd love to see the next Comic Con after everything that's gone down so far.

Intro to the New Girl!

Introduction to New Girl Comics and Me, the New Girl!

First, a little about the New Girl:

The first thing you need to know when reading this blog is that the New Girl is that rarity in your comic store known as the new comic fan. I've been reading comics for about six months now, and I know next to nothing about a lot of stuff that happened before then, so I'd appreciate patience for that kind of thing.

I'm a huge fan of superhero comics, but I also read some other stuff like The New Deadwardians, Saucer Country, Resident Alien, The Walking Dead (but no spoilers, 'cause I'm not up-to-date!), and some other stuff based off of books that I've read.

Some more personal facts about the New Girl:

I'll be turning 18 on July 4th, 2012. Yes, I am actually a girl. I live in Southern California. I'm a Physics major at a Cal State. My Associate's Degree is actually in Language Arts, though, so I'm stuck catching up on prerequisites for a while. I don't only read comics; I'm also a huge fan of urban fantasy novels and cereal boxes. I'm a television and movie junkie, and before I changed my major to Physics, it was RTVF (Radio, Television, and Film).

That's pretty much it about me. I'm kind of boring.

Second, a little about this blog:

This is my place to post my thoughts on comics that I've read or plan on reading so that I don't feel guilty for dumping this type of stuff on the readers of my other blogs who probably have zero interest in comics.

I'll mostly post my expectations for comics before I read them and my reviews afterward, but I'll also talk about comic book movies from time-to-time, as well as other comic-related topics.

If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to leave them below, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts! Thanks for reading!
